There were some excellent performances from all of the Billingham ASC swimmers at The Manchester International Swimming Meet last weekend. The Billingham swimmers won medals and set a host of new personal best times as they competed against not only top British swimmers, but also swimmers from Holland, Denmark, Malta and Ireland.
In the open category Stephanie Blakeburn won a splendid silver medal in the final of 200 metres butterfly with a great swim setting a new season’s best time.
In the junior age group, Hayley Briggs won the bronze medal in final of 200 metres backstroke with an excellent swim. Hayley had posted the fastest time in the heats of the 200 metres backstroke with a super new personal best time to win a place in the final. Hayley also set new personal best times in the final of 100 metres backstroke where she was placed 7th and the 50 metres backstroke heat.
Also in the junior age group, Freya Williams set four great new personal best times in 50, 100 and 200 metres freestyle and 100 metres backstroke. Freya won a place in the final of 200 metres freestyle where she was placed 7th.
Sam Chell had an excellent weekend setting new personal best times in 50, 100 and 200 metres freestyle and 200 metres individual medley, taking 2 seconds off both of his 200 metre events. Sam won places in the finals of 50 metres breaststroke where he was placed 5th and 100 metres freestyle and 200 metres individual medley where he was placed 7th in both events.
Claire Collins set good new personal best times in all three of her races, 50 and 200 metres freestyle and 100 metres breaststroke.
Jordan Mogford swam a great race in the 50 metres backstroke setting a new season’s best time.
